ABSTRACT

HEMOCOVID-19 is a multi-center trial aiming to assess the microvascular and endothelial health of severe COVID-19 patients in the intensive care using near-infrared spectroscopy. Here, we present the preliminary results, showing that peripheral microcirculatory alterations are associated with the severity of acute respiratory distress syndrome. © 2022 The Author(s).

ABSTRACT

At present, the paradigm of housing design and construction is approached under economic and environmental analysis schemes. However, this issue has fundamental risks, such as identifying the origin of the problem in essential aspects such as the conception of living and the way in which this action shapes spaces, systems of intervention and appropriation of the environment. The pandemic resulting from the covid-19 outbreak has generated circumstances in which confinement and social distancing regulations have made the limitations of the current paradigm evident in many aspects, particularly the design of housing being one of the most important. For this reason, this article aims to explore and analyze the modern housing paradigm, the problems that have emerged during the pandemic, and present a new paradigm based on the implementation of approaches that seek to explore options to redefine the human condition through knowledge and understanding. technology through concepts such as transhumanism which is proposed as an alternative to overcome the limitations and damages of the modern age;as well as avoiding the search for utilitarian absolutes in the field of the construction of human habitation

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread aggressively across the world causing an existential health crisis. Thus, having a system that automatically detects COVID-19 in tomography (CT) images can assist in quantifying the severity of the illness. Unfortunately, labelling chest CT scans requires significant domain expertise, time, and effort. We address these labelling challenges by only requiring point annotations, a single pixel for each infected region on a CT image. This labeling scheme allows annotators to label a pixel in a likely infected region, only taking 1-3 seconds, as opposed to 10-15 seconds to segment a region. Conventionally, segmentation models train on point-level annotations using the cross-entropy loss function on these labels. However, these models often suffer from low precision. Thus, we propose a consistency-based (CB) loss function that encourages the output predictions to be consistent with spatial transformations of the input images. The experiments on 3 open-source COVID-19 datasets show that this loss function yields significant improvement over conventional point-level loss functions and almost matches the performance of models trained with full supervision with much less human effort. ABSTRACT

The Corona Virus came into our reality propelling some changes to which we have to adjust ourselves. On this subject, the World Health Organization proposed some regulations to stop the propagation of the virus, one of these regulations is to avoid crowded places due to the fact that this can create the perfect conditions for massive contagion. This regulation has to be obeyed, consequently we are restless about the situation of the detained immigrants, due to the fact that the actual conditions of confinement that they are going through are not suitable according to the recommendation of the World Health Organization. The acknowledgement of their right to have access to health and medical services is a central issue, because that´s what give the infected persons access to medical care, avoiding more contagion, and of course, provides more medical resources to prevent the spreading of the virus. Therefore, regardless of their migratory status, their right to health and medical care has to be preserved in order to avoid fatal consequences that could be more difficult to mend in the coming future. © 2021 Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ESOG).
